For children up to age 12, the set comprises of a rectangular table and two chairs. The table not only provides ample surface space, but it also contains four cubbies in which to stow scissors, crayons, and construction paper. With a 100-pound weight capacity each, the chairs' 13-inch seat heights enable children to sit down and get up with ease.
Made in Thailand, the table and chairs benefit from durable beech wood construction. A non-toxic cherry finish enhances the set's appearance, while it also thwarts splinters. Cubbies on the short side of the table span 5-3/4 inches wide by 14-1/2 inches deep by 2-1/2 inches high, while the cubbies on the long side measure 11 inches wide by 9 inches deep by 2-1/2 inches high. Standard three-slat ladderbacks on the chairs ensure back support. To clean, wipe the furniture down with a soft damp cloth and use a mild soap on marks. Dry immediately to prevent damage to the wood. The set's design best befits indoor use. Avoid using markers and non-washable paints to preserve the furniture's veneer. Definitely read the description and other reviews carefully before buying. Lipper fully discloses the size of the table as well as the seat height to the table height. Some reviewers said their 2-3 year olds like the table, but I see this as more of a child's set than a toddler set. We had to go through two sets as the first set came incomplete and badly packaged, along with damage to the corner of the tabletop. It almost looked like someone returned it, and it was reshipped either by Amazon or Lipper. In this video, you'll see some issues we had with what we thought was pretty poor quality (drilling a hole, then redrilling and covering up the initial mistake), a slight wobble (annoying to the anal like my husband!) and differences in chairs in case you are considering buying additional chairs. I frequently sit at the table with my son while we work on projects and feel perfectly comfortable putting my full weight (I'm not a small person) onto the chair. As a matter of fact, we routinely use the chair as a "step-stool" to get things off of his high shelves. The chairs set firmly on the floor -- I can't remember anyone ever falling over in one. It gets used on a regular basis and I haven't noticed any scratches or scuffs. (We have the Pecan finish.) It is also quite attractive with a classic simple design. My son especially likes the little shelf area under the table-top where he stores his markers and drawing paper. I like that it blends nicely with our other Craftsman style furniture and does not look cheap.
