We purchased 4 of these fans, as well as another model from Minka Aire. Compared to the other model of Minka Aire (purchased from Restoration Hardware), these are much easier to install. They have not wobbled, move air nicely. They light is perhaps not the most attractive, but it lights the room well. The base of these fans are larger than other fans, and may appear bulkier towards the ceiling.However, it is a bit more complex than a screwdriver and electrical tape to install, as another reviewer mentioned. The ceiling fan has to be secured to the ceiling in an appropriate fashion, either attached directly to a ceiling joist, or through brace b/n the ceiling joists. (westinghouse Saf-T Brace). One of the new fans runs silently, just like the the first one we bought for the family room downstairs. The other new fan makes a very noticeable humming sound that gets louder as the fan speed is increased. I called Minka-Aire customer support and they told me to return the fan and get a new one. I apparently just got a bad unit. A fan in this price range should be silent (other than the sound of moving air), so if you get one that makes any noise at all it should be returned.
